I've gotten emails, talks and glares as multiple people have asked me if I'm still sending out my Bubble notes. My answer is normally a blush and "Oh, I guess I should do that."
My Christmas break began with a body that had become to used to routine and would not allow me to sleep in past seven. Even though our basement is fully dark (I have walked into more tables and chairs at noon than you care to know. At least my bruises give the false appearance of a tan) I was not able to force my body to relax. This is no longer an issue.
I have done a lot over these last two weeks! A couple changes have taken place, the biggest one being that I chopped off my hair that I had been growing out for a year (to donate to Locks of Love). While overseas last year I had the impulse chop it all off, but decided to dedicate to growing it out for a year and donate it. Because I had been planning this for so long there were/are no regrets. I also realized while sitting in a classroom again that my eyesight could be improved, the eye doctor agreed. It took me a week to decide on frames- I progressively took my brothers to the shop with me to help me choose (they didn't think it was as fun as I did). But, as a picture is worth a thousand words, below is the representation of what I have been rambling about (Me-Mum-Lisa respectively, during our winter family photoshoot).
And yes, I do look more like my mum now (a dime for every time I've heard that, and no I wouldn't be a millionaire, but I would have a lot of loose change.)
Besides appearance changes, my Christmas break hasn't held to many surprises. Lisa and Dan were able to come on the 26th for a couple days which was very nice. During that time we had a family photoshoot (as mum and dad are planning on returning to Africa later this year, we wanted to have full family pictures). Speaking of which, if you could be in prayer about 2011 for our family. Mum, Dad and Michael (who will be 15 when they leave) will be heading to Dakar, Senegal, Lord Willing in August. Simon, who is graduating this year, is pursuing Aeronautical Engineering and will probably be staying in Calgary. Tyler, who is currently in Explore, is not sure what he will be doing next year but there are several options. Since Lisa and Daniel live in Saskatoon (7+ hours from Calgary), our home/housing options may be limited. Prayers for housing for the guys that that details will be sorted out will be greatly appreciated.
This next semester will be rather busy as we spend one week at Prairie before heading down to Montana mid-January. This winter will consist of skiing, backpacking, cold camping and lots of layers. Over the last couple months I have been blessed with some quality gear that will hopefully keep me a little warmer than I was several years ago. It has been wonderful getting to know my team over this last semester and I'm very excited to see what is in store for us in these next couple months.
