Bubble Note #81

Decisions!  The responses we received after our last email was overwhelming! You showed us great support and encouragement through your replies, and caring at all. We have spent the last several months in prayer and decision making, and have reached a point where we feel complete peace about the next step.  So: We are going back to Alberta!   Yes. This will be our third time driving across the country in the last 15 months (again, during the winter).  After evaluation we determined that we weren't making enough of the necessities to justify staying in PEI (money and flying hours).  Andrew has been offered a tentative job at an airport close to Calgary, and I have been offered a job at the Easter Seals Camp we worked at last summer. We will be living at the camp and Andrew will be commuting to work. He may also take his instructors course during our time there. Again, we don't know how permanent this move is as that will depend on whether I get into school for Midwifery. We will hear back from schools in March.  In the mean time, we have made ourselves busy through various tasks. I have been upgrading my Biology and Chemistry through local Adult Ed (and let me tell you, high school is so much easier after a degree!) and Andrew has been working nights in his job as a security officer.  We will be spending Christmas in Ontario with both of our families (as my parents are coming back for my brother Tyler's wedding in January). We will also be seeing friends in both Ontario and across the States as we drive back to Alberta. We are super excited for these next couple months- and honestly, we rather like road-tripping.  Again, thanks. I'm sorry if I didn't reply to your email, but I read them all and shared them with Andrew. We know we are blessed. Bubble Note #79

Hospitality- The Creative Art of Balance  Last time I wrote we were in the "pits of despair" (it just seems right to use Anne quotes since we are on 'her' island). I am overjoyed to report that the pits are only so wide and deep, and time passes and spirits lift.  Our current work lives are a bit like driving in an Indian taxi. You get freaked out when it speeds up so much, and then something happens and they slam on the brakes. And you are just as shocked and stunned that you have stopped that you don't quite know what to do or say; and then just when you think you have your bearings the taxi accelerates and takes off again.  June was a crazy busy month. Andrew and his boss spent a week repainting (and grinding, and priming, and bolting) the upper hangar doors. I have been gaining clients which has me travelling around the island.  Amidst work we have been setting up our apartment for guests. Last week we had an explosion of requests from 'couchsurfers' for our space. If you don't know anything about this organization feel free to check out the links below the pictures. We feel blessed with this space and believe it is the calling of the Body of Christ to extend these gifts to others. We recently had guests from Montreal, and will have some others from Vancouver and Germany later this week. At the end of August my good friend Sarah is visiting us from Alberta! Good things are in store.  Our finished Guest bedroom Check out Couchsurfers.org if you are also interested in hosting people from around the world.   It took a week of 12 hour days, but they completely re-did the upper portion of the hangar doors. Bubble Note #78

Learning to love... View this email in your browser Adulthood... Did I miss this course in college? We are currently in the midst of transition. Full on. Culture shock. Loneliness. Future thinking and having difficulty being 'present'. You name it. We have it.  Transition isn't a foriegn concept to me. As a matter of fact being out of transition is perhaps more unknown, but this move has been particularly difficult.  I think we would identity in between stages 2 and 3 right now (click on the picture to see it on the website).  If you are anything like me, as soon as you see the "Please Pray" box in an email you quickly look it over for any interesting news and then promptly forget to ever pray for them. So I'll simply say what we are hoping for: Valuable Time Together (as I work 1-9pm and he works 6pm-2am) Friends. (as everyone in our demographic seems to have moved to Alberta) Wisdom in future decisions (how long do we stay? Where do we go next?) God-Glorifying Work Ethic  The "Stuff" (You really wanted to know)  We are both employed full-time! Well, sort of. I am now a home care worker for seniors, as well as a cook for a local restaurant, and doing marketing consulting for Andrew's company on a need basis. He is flying when flights are available and also beginning a job as a security officer at a race track and casino. We have 'sleep' scheduled in on our shared calendar. No joke.  We have a fully furnished apartment! The church (full of wonderful individuals) graciously donated us lots of items. Between them and kijiji our apartment is full and ready for you to visit!  All of that to say, we could use some encouragement. We know God has placed us here for a time, and that these things take time. It takes time to build relationships, and it takes time to be financially stable enough to be picky about jobs.  Praise the Father, Son and Holy Spirit that He has provided us with health, secure jobs, a church that is willing to invest in us, and flying for Andrew.  Look at me getting all practiced to write missionary newsletters... Bubble Note #77

According to Islanders, you are either from the island, or 'away'. Those are your two options.  View this email in your browser Stop, Drop...and Settle. How we came from 'away' Two weeks ago today we arrived in PEI to red dirt fields, sunshine and hundreds of kilometers of shoreline. And today- we are officially residents!  Thank you for praying. God answered, and He worked quickly! Andrew had the interview on Monday, and we went for a test-flight on Tuesday, and by Wednesday he was working. I worked from the car on the free wifi searching for a place to live, and by Saturday we had a 2-bedroom apartment right in Summerside.  So now-- come visit us! We have been blessed with a bunch of free furniture from our church here (even though we have only been here 2 Sundays, they have already welcomed us as part of their family), so we have a bed (ok, futon), for you to stay on.  Andrew has been flying and going through training, and I have been working part time with the same company on an administrative and sales roll. I will continue to look for work, or perhaps investigate self-employment.  We have not a doubt in our mind that this is where we are supposed to be. Andrew's parents will be coming in a week to bring all of our stuff up to us (we have just been living off of the weeks worth of clothes we originally brought). Bubble Note #76

From Atlantic to Pacific, God is God View this email in your browser Mrs. Galster Don't worry...I'm still getting used to it too On March 30th Andrew and I permanently and legally became best friends. And the last 2 1/2 weeks have been just as wonderful as the 9 months preceding it. Now, we are calling you to prayer. Andrew and I will be travelling to PEI this upcoming weekend to meet with a possible job opportunity. The last several months have been agonizing as we pray, wait and hope that someone will hire Andrew on as a pilot. Entry-level jobs are horrifically hard to get as there is a catch-20. Most commercial pilots finish their training with around 250 hours, but very few companies will hire pilots with under 500 hours. Pilots can only get those hours through being hired as it would cost over $50,000 to pay for those missing hours out of pocket. Thus, every entry-level pilot is vying for those few and precious positions. As per our usual, we were/are willing and eager to move anywhere in Canada that was willing to offer us a position. For a while we believed that would be in BC as there was a lead there, but this did not pan out. Therefore it is exhausting to switch our thinking to the complete opposite coast and constantly be stuck in 'transition mode'.  We are willing to go wherever God wants us. Please pray that there will be absolutely no doubt in our minds if this is the place we are supposed to go.  Therefore, we have literally spanned the country (from sea to sea) looking for jobs.
