Bubble Note #84- Tiny House

Change and settlement.  View this email in your browser Change Tiny House, new jobs and business So much has changed since I last wrote in June I will summarize with pictures and details below. We are so happy with where we are currently at. God is good.  We received our trailer and began building our dream tiny house at the end of August. While we feel progress has not gone as fast as we may like, we also realize that we will have started and completed a house within 6 months. Not to shabby.  We are looking forward to (eventually) moving into our giant 200 square foot home.  I (Beth) have also been very busy as I transitioned out of my camp job as cook and recently began my own business as doula and photographer. I have thoroughly enjoyed growing my business and allowing my creative juices to flow. I also began nannying full time so that we would have enough money to finish off the house (no debt yet!).  If you are interested in seeing more check out my website at: www.yourbeautifulbirth.org or my 'like' my Facebook Page  Andrew also switched roles at the end of summer and has assumed the role of Youth Leadership Coordinator at Easter Seals Camp Horizon. While he prepares for next summer he has also taken on media projects for camp and is constantly producing videos and promotional material.   We will be spending Christmas with both sides of the family as my parents returned to Calgary in June and Andrew's parents are flying out to be with us and participate in Christmas camp. Bubble Note #83

Let's be honest, by long term we mean over 2 years.  View this email in your browser The Future "Long-term" - wait, did we really just say that word? Many of you know by now (via Facebook) that I did not get into either school for Midwifery. I was placed 14th on the wait list for Mount Royal in Calgary; which sets me up well for applying again next year. In the mean time, Andrew and I have been doing some soul searching to see what we want for the future. At this time, we are exploring options to be able to stay on camp staff in a more permanent basis. We love Easter Seals Camp Horizon, we love our little cabin, we love the community here and we love the possibilities for our own personal growth. As of right now I will be continuing in the kitchen until the end of October, at which point I will (with the wonderful supportive prompting of my husband who thinks I am capable of anything) be attending births as a doula full time and trying to supplement some income via photography. Over the summer Andrew will be leading the bikes program at camp, and we are exploring other options (within camp) for the fall.  Perhaps our time of jumping around has come to a temporary close. Ok, maybe I'm still having trouble with the word 'long-term'. Bubble Note #82

I knew a puppy would get your attention! Actually this is our puppy. Her name is Finn and we picked her up on our way across the country (it was planned, it's not like we saw a stray and picked her up). She has been a fabulous addition to our small family, adding lots of laughs, glares and holes in shoes.  Since a decent amount of time has passed since I last wrote, I'll once again save your time and summarize:  The Good:  - Tyler and Brooke got married!       (They got married on a rainy day in January [in case you don't know, "rainy" and "January" are never paired together this far north, so it was weird] and Andrew and I had the privilege of being their photographers/videographers) - We are in Bragg Creek, Alberta!     (Took us a month, but we finally made it across the country. Driest roads, sunniest and warmest weather we have ever travelled the country in. Ironically, we are thinking of doing more road trips in January) - We both are employed and not homeless!     (While we took for granted we would be living in the same location, there were a couple tense moments when we didn't know where we would be living [as in like, anywhere...in the whole country of Canada]. But we have a very cute cabin at camp which we love love love. I am cooking full time in the kitchen and Andrew is driving school bus for a special needs school.    The Unknown:  -The Future.     But I'll expand on that. We moved to Alberta for a variety of reasons, but the primary one being that we needed to save money in order for me to go to school (to become a Midwife..in case you didn't know). I completed all of my prerequisites in PEI and applied to two schools in December. One is located in Calgary, the other in Sudbury, Ontario. Midwifery is incredibly competitive in Canada as each school only accepts 20-30 students/year and there are only 6 schools in Canada (and I am only eligible for 3 of them). Unfortunately I just heard back from the one in Calgary and was not accepted. We will find out in March whether I have been accepted to Laurentian (the one in Ontario) or not.  Needless to say, we don't know what the future holds or what we will do when we do know.
